Early voting

Early voting for the 2022 primary election will begin on Wednesday, August 24 and run through Monday, Sept. 12 at North Smithfield Town Hall.

Those who would like to cast a vote in advance of the primary scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13 can do so during regular business hours at 83 Green St., Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; or Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be no early voting on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5.

Votes will be cast in the Town Council chambers and residents must bring a valid photo ID to cast a ballot.

Final concert

The final performance in North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Department’s free summer concert series will take place this week.

Residents are invited to the Town Hall gazebo to see Burrillville-based classic rock act The Live Music Band on Thursday, August 25, starting at 5 p.m. A food truck is also expected to be on site.

Ranger walkabout

Stick around Slatersville after the concert for Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park’s last Ranger Walkabout for the 2022 season.

Join park rangers on Thursday, August 25, also the 106th birthday of the National Park Service, for a tour from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. of what remains of the early village, including worker housing.

The tour will include walking on asphalt terrain as well as some uneven paths, and attendees are advised to wear comfortable footwear and bring water. Limited parking is available at North Smithfield Public Library.

Historic fall cleanup: ZAP

A town-wide cleanup will take place on Saturday, August 27 as a follow up to North Smithfield’s annual Clean & Green day, held in April.

The town is participating in ZAP 50, a massive cleanup of towns across the Blackstone Valley marking the 50th anniversary of Operation Zero Out Pollution from 1972. The event hopes to replicate the historic cleanup – the largest of its kind in history – by attracting more than 10,000 volunteers.
