Ice Cream Party

Jesse Smith Memorial Library will celebrate the end of summer on Monday, August 15 with ice cream and a a performance by the RI Bucket Drummers on the Riverwalk. The public is invited and no registration is required for the free event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The program will move indoors in the event of rain.

Blood drive

The Burrillville Police Department will host a drive for the Rhode Island Blood Center on Wednesday, August 17 from 1 to 8 p.m. in the community room at 1477 Victory Highway. To make an appointment to donate, visit donate.ribc.org using sponsor code 5060. Walk in donations will be welcome if availability permits at time of arrival.

Tech support

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department is inviting older residents to join the ATEL Program for a presentation on the challenge and solutions for older adults embracing technology and the introduction of a new program to help bridge the digital divide.

Ben’s Lemonade

A community event featuring raffles, activities and more, which raises thousands each year for the Burrillville Animal Shelter, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ben’s Annual Lemonade Stand will be held at 90 Maureen Circle in Mapleville, put on by Burrillville student Benjamin St. Pierre, with 100 percent of proceeds donated to the facility.

Final Riverwalk concert

The final free show in the Riverwalk Times Concert series will take place on Saturday, August 20 with a performance by Jesse Liam Band at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion starting at 6 p.m. The Dinolicious food truck will also be on site.

Shrine anniversary

St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church and Shrine of the Little Flower will honor the 99th anniversary of the shrine on Sunday, August 21 with a full day of events at 35 Dion Drive in Nasonville. The church will hold a 10:30 a.m. mass with Auxiliary Bishop of Providence Robert Evans, with veneration of the relic of St. Therese at 11:30 a.m. The Living Rosary will take place at noon followed by a 1 p.m. luncheon. Scala Sancta prayers will take place at 2 p.m. followed by The Way of the Cross at 2:45 p.m.

The day will end with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Benediction at 3:30 p.m.

Assembly of Food Trucks

PVD Food Trucks will return to the grounds of the Assembly Theatre on Sunday, August 22 for The Assembly of Food Trucks starting at 5 p.m. The outdoor event will include live music, drinks by Trinity Brewhouse and a variety of food vendors for purchase.

The Burrillville Conservation Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, August 16 starting at 7 p.m. at 105 Harrisville Main St. The agenda is here.

The Oakland Mapleville Fire District will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, August 17 starting at 7 p.m. at 46 Oakland School St. for budget preparation for the 2022/2023 year. The agenda is here.
