All About Amy kicks off the North Smithfield Summer Concert series Thursday night.

Northern, RI – In keeping with a long-standing news tradition of stating the obvious along with lesser-known facts, we would like to point out: it’s hot outside… and we mean really hot.

But with plenty of events scheduled both indoors – think AC – and outdoors during the cooler evenings, the stifling weather shouldn’t keep you from a great weekend here in northern Rhode Island.

Of course, this weekly feature lists the usual summer lineup of free outdoor music, and local bars and venues offering entertainment over the next four days. Two nice additions to this week’s schedule include the start of the North Smithfield Summer Concert series Thursday night, and the return of PVD Food Trucks to Burrillville Sunday evening for the Assembly of Food Trucks.

As usual, we’ve also added some “outside of the box,” events taking place in Burrillville, North Smithfield and Glocester, with fun that’s open to the public, from yoga and arts classes, to skeet shooting.

However you spend it, we hope you make the most of this summer weekend, stay cool, and check out some of these great local events.
