Wright Scoop summer hours

The Wright Scoop at Wright’s Dairy Farm in North Smithfield began their summer hours this week. The ice cream trailer will now be open Monday through Thursday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.

Chowder & Clam Cakes

Scout Troop 438 North Smithfield will host a chowder and clam cake fundraiser on Saturday, June 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pacheco Park with Mickey G’s Clam Shack. The cost is $15 for a meal of clam cakes and chowder or chicken fingers and french fries.

Hurricane season

The North Smithfield Emergency Management Agency is reminding residents that hurricane season begins on Wednesday, June 1. Those who use generators should be advised that the only safe way to run the generator with risk of carbon monoxide poisoning is by bringing it outside far away from doors and windows.

Homeowners should always read the operator’s manual before using a generator and protect line workers from backfeed by installing a transfer switch.

Estate sale

Rhode Island Estate Sales & Cleanouts at is having an estate sale on Saturday, June 4 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with items including vintage toys, tools, furniture, electronics, artwork, home decor and more.

Numbers will be given out between 7 and 7:30 a.m. and participants must be present to get a number with the address to be posted here. For questions contact (401) 400-2771.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, June 1 starting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall at 83 Greene St. The agenda can be found here.
