BURRILLVILLE – In a few days, we will be facing the start of the hurricane and severe weather season here in New England.

Starting Wednesday, June 1, we should be preparing ourselves for high impact storms making their way to our region from the Atlantic Ocean. The entire east coast will be under this weather threat until later this fall. Weather forecasters are expecting six to ten severe hurricanes, and weather conditions that will directly impact our safety, property and lives.

On this Memorial Day Weekend, we are featuring The Bus Stop Kids cartoon characters conveying hurricane and severe weather safety messages to kids as coloring pages. During the coming months, we will be featuring some more of these kids safety coloring pages featuring hurricane and severe weather messages, so children have a better idea what they should do, and not do, in case these weather conditions do arrive here in the Ocean State and Bay State areas. There are many safety issues related to severe weather, and we have an entire series for the kids to color while talking about safety with parents and guardians.

These coloring cartoons are perfect for teachers, librarians, daycare staff, pediatricians and nurses, as a creative educational and awareness vehicle that could potentially save a child’s life. Pass them to the kids.

Have a safe and happy Memorial Day everyone!
