Hydrant flushing

Pascoag and Harrisville Water Departments have announced that they will be performing hydrant flushing this week. The flushing process may cause discoloration to the water for a short period of time and customers should run their water until it becomes clear.

“Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this important annual maintenance task on our water mains and hydrants,” noted Pascoag Utility District.

Blood drive signup

Crystal Lake Golf Club will host a blood drive on Thursday, May 18 in memory of Sammy, a young boy who lost his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The blood drive will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. in the waterfront room at 100 Broncos Highway. Donations can be scheduled by visiting ribc.org/drives using sponsor code 2107. Walk in donations will also be accepted as space permits.

Spring Fling

Art Box Studio at 180 Tinkham Lane will hold a Spring Fling vendor fair on Sunday, May 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with local arts makers, kids’ crafts and an all-ages Alice in Wonderland outdoor painting event. Registration is required for the painting event, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., by calling (401) 568-5000.

Matilda Jr.

The Assembly Theatre in Harrisville and Inspiration Performing Arts Company will hold a youth production of “Matilda Jr” this weekend. The group of young, local actors will offer three performance with shows Saturday at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.inspirationperformingarts.com and www.assemblytheatre.org/events.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Monday, May 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. in the DPW offices at 200 Clear River Drive. The agenda is here.

An e-waste collection will be held on Saturday, May 14 at the Public Works building at 200 Clear River Drive from 9 a.m. to noon.
