Soccer signups

Registration is now open for Burrillville Glocester Youth Soccer Association’s Tiny Tykes program, open to children with birth years from 2017-2019. The cost is $85 and includes a T-shirt and soccer ball. The league starts May 4 and is held every Wednesday through June 22 from 5:30 6:30 p.m.

Dog licenses due

The town is reminding residents that dog license are due during the month of April. To obtain a dog license, you must show proof of rabies inoculation. To obtain a license, visit the Office of the Town Clerk at 1145 Putnam Pike Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The fee is $7.

Tate gets body armor

The Glocester Police Department’s K9 Tate will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Tate’s vest will be embroidered with the sentiment “In memory of K9 Buddy, Palmer, MA, EOW 4/1/22.” Delivery is expected within eight to ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The potentially lifesaving body armor for four-legged K9 officers is U.S. made, custom fitted, and NIJ certified. Since its inception, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has provided over 4,601 vests to K9s in all 50 states at a value of $6.9 million, made possible by both private and corporate donations.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount, while a single donation of $960 will sponsor one vest. Each vest has a value of $1,744-$2,283, weighs an average of 4-5 lb., and comes with a five-year warranty. For more information, or to learn about volunteer opportunities, call (508) 824-6978. GBA Wine Dinner

The Glocester Business Association will host a wine tasting and dinner on Tuesday, April 26 at 6 p.m. at Tavern on Main. Businesses attending must register here by Friday, April 22, and the cost is $30 per person.

Attendees are invited to bring canned goods to help stock the Glocester Food Pantry and supplies for the Glocester Animal Shelter including food, treats, and cat beds or tents.
