Episode 2

North Smithfield High School Senior Cali Keovongsavang has released the second episode of her podcast Hear Me Out (I am not a therapist,) tackling the topic of friendships. The show, which aims to draw more attention to student-focused mental health, social dynamics, and relationship dynamics has been created as part of Keovongsavang’s senior project, and was featured in this month’s Senior Project Newsletter.

NRI NOW Publisher Sandy Seoane has served as Keovongsavang’s mentor.

Egg hunt

The town of North Smithfield will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 9 starting at noon in the Pacheco Park fields. The event is open to North Smithfield children ages 2-8 and sponsored by the North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Commission. Children should have appropriate footwear and bring a bag or basket to collect eggs.

The rain date for the event is Sunday, April 10.

Heritage hike

Join the North Smithfield Heritage Association on Saturday, April 9 for a history walk covering the Nipsachuck legacy. Visit The Blunders, Nipsachuck National Battlefield, Black Plain Hill indigenous people stone landscape, the Three Dog Site and NS57 in a driving and walking tour. Participants will meet at middle school parking lot on Providence Pike at 9:30 a.m.

Church hosts breakfast, egg hunt on The Common

Slatersville Congregational Church at 25 Greene St. will hold a series of events on Sunday, April 10 for Palm Sunday, beginning with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. followed by worship service at 10 a.m. and an Easter Egg Hunt on The Common at 11 a.m. All are invited to join.

Holy Week events will continue the church next week with a Maundy Thursday service of reflection on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. Easter Sunday services begin with a Sunrise Service at 6 a.m. at Eagle Point behind the the Slatersville Library, followed by a worship service with special music in the church sanctuary at 10 a.m.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Town Council will hold a meeting on Monday, April 4 starting at 6:45 p.m. at 83 Greene St. for an agenda found here.

The Municipal Buildings Review Task Force will hold a meeting on Tuesday, April 5 starting at 5:30 p.m. at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda is here.

The Parks & Recreation Commission will hold a meeting on Wednesday, April 6 starting at 6 p.m. at 83 Greene St. The agenda can be found here.
