BURRILLVILLE – It was an elaborate fake out for students – but in truth, there was much to celebrate on Tuesday, March 29 at Steere Farm Elementary School.
Reading Specialist Nancie Lawrence was to be awarded the Milken Educator Award – a national recognition that comes with a $25,000 check, reserved for the nation’s top educators.
The award was a surprise for both Lawrence and the student body, and a crowd gathered in the school gymnasium was told they were there to celebrate becoming a nationally certified kindness school.
