Egg Hunt coming, bridge shutdown: Five things to know in North Smithfield this week

Coaches needed

North Smithfield Little League is in need of more coaches for the 2022 season. Most teams will have one practice and one game per week. The league will host a coaching clinic in April as well as a guide to help coaches structure and deliver practices and games.

Egg Hunt announced

The North Smithfield Parks & Recreation Commission has announced that the town will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 9 starting at noon in the Pacheco Park fields. The event is open to North Smithfield children ages 2-8, and participants are asked to have appropriate footwear and bring a bag or basket to collect eggs.

The rain date for the event is Sunday, April 10.

Bridge closed

The Union Village bridge on Great Road will be closed for construction starting at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30 through the morning of Thursday, March 31.

New recycling hours

The North Smithfield Recycling Center will have new drop off hours starting on Saturday, April 2, and will be open Saturdays fro 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Wednesdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The center is open to North Smithfield resident exclusively with free drop off for ridged plastic and scrap metal as well as used motor oil.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Personnel Board will hold a meeting on Monday, March 28 starting at 6:30 p.m. at 575 Smithfield Road. The agenda can be found here.

The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a joint meeting with the Budget Committee on Thursday, March 31 starting at 6 p.m. at 83 Greene St. The agenda can be found here.
