This week, Jamie Boucher of Harrisville shared this picture Scottish Terrier, Shackleton, named after the famed Antarctic explorer. Do you have a photo of your family or pet that simply needs to be seen? Share it to sandy@nrinow.news or with the NRI NOW Facebook page and we may feature it with a future "five things."

Winter trash

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department is reminding residents of winter trash and recycling tips, noting residents should carve out a place for carts when shoveling snow, leaving three feet around the bins to ensure pickup. Carts should not be placed in snow piles or left out in the street.

Cold temperatures can cause trash to freeze to the side of the cart, so all trash items must be bagged and recyclables should be rinsed and dried. Cart lids should be closed, with any water or snow dumped out after the bins are emptied.

There will be no change to collection on President’s Day, and carts should be placed out on the normal day.

The latest information on any changes due to weather or holidays can be found by calling (401) 568-4440 ext. 12 or visiting burrillville.org/refuse.
