Back to school

It’s back to school today, Monday, Jan. 3, for Burrillville students returning from winter break. For parents looking for information amid the recent surge of COVID-19 and changing guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, school officials advise that there are currently no changes to quarantine and/or isolation requirements. An update from the Rhode Island Department of Education is expected in the upcoming weeks.

Town Hall staff shortage

Certain town offices in Burrillville will be closed for walk in service through Wednesday, Jan 5 due to a shortage of staff in Town Hall. The use of online services or one of the drop boxes located outside is recommended whenever possible. Anyone with an urgent matter should call the appropriate department.

Tax payments can be made online with a credit card; or check or money order by mail or put in dropbox with an email or envelope provided by those who need a receipt. To reach the Town Clerk call (401) 568-4300 ext. 180 or email townclerk@burrillville.org.

Collection for refugees

Berean Baptist Church will be collecting items to assist Afghan refugees at a drive on Saturday, Jan. 8 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Items being collected include dinnerware or complete sets with plates, bowls, cups, saucers and drink glasses; cutlery or complete sets with forks, knives and spoons; pots and pans including stockpots, skillets, saucepans of different sizes, oven safe casserole dishes and Dutch ovens. Donations may be brought to the church at 474 Chapel St.
