PROVIDENCE – A Warwick man is facing driving to endanger charges following a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning that took the life of a 78-year-old North Smithfield woman.
Frances Furnell, the passenger in one of the vehicles, died at the scene of the accident, according to police.
State police say the accident occurred by the Admiral Street overpass just before 11:30 a.m., when a SUV stopped in traffic in the high speed lane on Route 146 south was rear-ended by a box truck.
The driver of the SUV was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the box truck, Andre Gilbert, 27, of Warwick, was arrested and charged with driving to endanger/reckless driving, death resulting.
