Lemonade stand raises shelter funds

Ben’s annual Lemonade Stand, held Saturday, Aug. 7, on Maureen Circle, raised a record-breaking $3,871 for the Burrillville Animal Shelter, funds used to purchase food, medicine and other needed supplies for the animals in their care.

The community event has been organized by Mapleville resident Benjamin St. Pierre every year, for the past 12 consecutive years. In 2021, it featured dozens of raffles and activities thanks to support from local businesses and individuals. The family thanked all who helped out this week for the support.

Softball registrations extended

Registrations for the Burrillville Girls Softball Association’s Fall Ball league have been extended through Saturday, Aug. 21. The league offers 8u, 10u and 12u divisions and games are played on weekend afternoons at Hauser Park to accommodate other fall activities. The season begins in mid-September and runs through the first week of November.
