Ben’s Annual Lemonade Stand
It began 12 years ago as a child’s lemonade stand that raised $75, and has evolved into a massive community event with dozens of raffles, activities and more, raising thousands each year for a worthy cause.
Ben’s Annual Lemonade Stand will take place on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 90 Maureen Circle in Mapleville. The event, put on by Burrillville student Benjamin St. Pierre, benefits the Burrillville Animal Shelter, with 100 percent of proceeds donated to the facility.
In addition to items for sale such as homemade dog treats, the pet-friendly event will feature a Dog Kissing Booth this year. Guests are invited to dress their pups or use fun props for a picture, and will take home a 4 X 6 photo for a donation of their choosing.
Softball signups
Registrations are open for the Burrillville Girls Softball fall season for the 8u, 10u and 12u divisions. Games will be played Saturday afternoons, and registrations close on Sunday, Aug. 15. To sign up, visit www.burrillvillegirlssoftball.com.
Into the Woods Jr.
Tickets are now on sale for Into the Woods, Jr. at the Assembly Theatre with performances to be held Friday, Aug. 6 through Sunday, Aug. 8. Enjoy the return of live theater this weekend, in this collaboration with Inspiration Performing Arts Company.

The weekend
Also taking place this weekend, Tim Hart & George will play at Johnny’s Victory Diner on Friday, Aug. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy music, drinks and barbecue food on the outdoor patio at 2731 Victory Highway in Nasonville.
On Saturday, Aug. 7, the Burrillville Farmer’s Market continues from from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion in Harrisville. At the pavilion at 6 p.m., Burrillville’s own Live Music Band plays a free show as the latest band in the Riverwalk Concert Series. The rain venue for the event is Levy Ice Rink.
