Yoga, Tree-Hugger Tuesday & concerts begin: Five things to know in Burrillville this week

Congratulations to the Burrillville wrestling team on a record-breaking year. The team won the 2021 Division Title for the first time since 2010, joining a list of Bronco athletes to celebrate wins this year. Coach Jacob Rivers is also in the running for the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's Assistant Coach of the Year award.

Cribbage league

Spritzers will hold sign ups for the Pascoag Summer Cribbage League on Tuesday, July 6 starting at 6:45 p.m.

Speaking of summer leagues, a reminder that Burrillville Parks and Recreation is accepting registration for several activities – including an new pickleball league and cornhole for adults. For more information, visit the Parks & Recreation Facebook page.

Tree hugger Tuesday

Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful will host a trash cleanup event in downtown Pascoag on Tuesday, July 13 starting at 5:30 p.m. Volunteers will meet up after the cleanup at George’s Pizza & Pub for refreshments. Space is limited and volunteers are asked to register in advance here.

Yoga class

The Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department is now sponsoring a yoga class with instructor Anita Bevans from Healing Hearts Yoga. Classes are held outdoors at the Burrillville Recreation Center at 50 Lodge Road on Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m., and no previous experience is needed. Classes cost $48 for the full 6-week session or $10 for drop-ins.

Concerts kick off Saturday

The Riverwalk Times Concert Series kicks off this week, with the first show this Saturday at the Stillwater Mill Pavilion. Jesse Liam Band will perform at the free concert, put on by Friends of the Jesse Smith Memorial Library starting at 6 p.m. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets, and enjoy the show from the surrounding fields.

The group has secured a rain venue this year and will be holding the events at Levy Ice Rink in the case of inclement weather.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Extended Care Board of Directors will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, July 6 starting at 6:30 p.m. An agenda and link to attend can be found here.
