Veterans ceremony & banners

The Allied Veteran’s Council and the Burrillville Band hosted a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 31 in Harrisville. If you missed the event, it was streamed live by resident Norman Desjarlais and can be watched here.

Berard Desjarlais American Legion Post 88 also reminds residents that the project to honor the town’s living veterans is ongoing with banners honoring veterans up to the early years of the Vietnam War. The group will be advertising for new veterans for Veterans Day, and when those honored pass away, the poster is given to the family. Farmer’s market

The Burrillville Farmer’s Market officially reopens for the season on Saturday, June 5 at the Stillwater Mill Center, and will offer local food and art for sale every Saturday to follow from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through September 25. Don’t forget, Spring Lake Beach also opens full-time for the season starting Saturday, June 5 with hours daily weather-permitting from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Bridge closure

Residents are reminded that the Mohegan Bridge carrying travelers over the Branch River on Route 102 will be shut down entirely between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2 and Thursday, June 3.

Raffle

The Class of 2021 All Night Grad Committee has announced a raffle with a grand prize of $500 and proceeds to help support upcoming events. Tickets cost $5, and second and third place winners will get gift certificates to local restaurants Serio’s and Uncle Ronnie’s.

While you’re supporting some deserving Broncos, Five Below in Lincoln is hosting a shopping event Monday, May 31 through () June 6 where 10 percent of all purchases will support the Burrillville High School Band Boosters. To donate, just print and present the flyer below.

Town meetings

The Burrillville Ordinance Subcommittee will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 1 at 2 p.m. An agenda and link to attend via Zoom can be found here.

On Wednesday, June 2 at 7 p.m., the Pascoag Fire District Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting to make a presentation on the purchase of a new rescue at a cost of up to $290,000. All eligible village voters can then vote from the conclusion of the presentation until 9 p.m. at 141 Howard Ave. The agenda for the meeting can be found here.
