Senior classes resume

Aging Well, Inc. has announced that classes will once again be offered at Scouters Hall at 13 Main St. starting Monday, May 24, and three extra classes will be added.

The schedule is as follows:

Mondays from 10:15 to 11 a.m, Zumba Gold with Fran, and 11:15 a.m. to noon, Chair Exercise with Fran

Tuesdays starting at 1:30 p.m., Mindfulness/Meditation with Diane

Thursdays from 10:15 to 11 a.m., Zumba Gold With Fran, and 1 to 1:45 p.m., Keep Moving with Steve

Fridays from noon to 12:45 p.m., Line Dancing with Fran

The group will be adhering to all Rhode Island Department of Health Covid-19 regulations and the number of class participants will be limited. Call Aging Well Inc at (401) 766-3734 for information, and to register for classes.

New firefighter

On Friday May 14th, 18 firefighters of Class #14 representing six different communities graduated from the Rhode Island Fire Academy including Joshua Bussman the newest member to join the ranks of North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Services. Bussman begins his career on Monday, May 17, filling a vacancy created by a retirement.

Library loosens restrictions

North Smithfield Public Library has announced that time limits for visits have now been removed, and several activities will be held both in and outdoors this week.

On Tuesday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., families are invited to visit the Storywalk, and enjoy a picture book while walking outside the library.

Also Tuesday, May 18 and on Thursday, May 20, an adult craft session will be held at 6 p.m., making a metal pendant.

Seedlings will be held outdoors on Thursday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m., open to ages 6 to 26 months and their caregivers.

Outdoor Meditation will be held on Thursday, May 20 at 2 p.m. for ages 7 to 10.

Growing a Reader, for ages 3 to 5, will be held on Friday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m.

Live entertainment

The Porch Rockers will offer a free show at the pavilion at Lindy’s Tavern on Saturday, May 22 starting at 4 p.m.
The Island hosts Northeast Groove with Edge of Dreams from on Friday, May 21 from 6 to 9 p.m. There is a $15 gate fee for the show. Read more about the Summer Music Series here.
