Burrillville woman arrested after trashing home, fight with landlord

BURRILLVILLE – A 38-year-old Burrillville woman was arrested this month after a night of heavy drinking led to a fight with her landlord, and the decision to throw furniture and glass around her apartment, according to police.

Kess Campbell of Burrillville was charged with felony domestic vandalism, third offense; disorderly conduct; and resisting arrest following the incident. Campbell also had a bench warrant out of Rhode Island Superior Court.

Police reportedly received two calls about Campbell’s behavior on Wednesday, April 14, around 9 p.m., and responded to her apartment building on Sayles Avenue.

The victim, a 57-year-old man who identified himself as Campbell’s roommate, said she was heavily intoxicated when he arrived home, and was yelling and swearing at the landlord. He said Campbell began pushing over furniture and throwing glass inside the apartment. and that he had been kicked out of the building in the past due to her behavior. The man said he attempted unsuccessfully to restrain Campbell before locking himself in his bedroom.

Police quickly arrested the suspect, who reportedly made herself dead weight as they tried to walk her out of the home. At the station, she began banging on her cell door and screaming, belligerent behavior police said continued after she was shackled to her bunk.

Campbell was held overnight and transported to 6th District Court the following morning for her arraignment.
