Early voting

It is the last week for early voting in the statewide special referenda election, with the chance to cast ballots on $400 million in proposed bond spending.

To vote prior to election day, which is Tuesday, March 2, and avoid potential lines, visit Town Hall at 83 Greene St. during normal business hours this week, Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. or Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Vaccines remaining

With the first 80 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine now administered to North Smithfield residents in the highest age bracket, efforts to schedule those age 75 and older for appointments continue this week at Town Hall.

As of Thursday, Feb. 25, the town had 160 appointments remaining for those who qualify, and volunteers with the North Smithfield Emergency Management Agency are taking calls with questions and requests during daytime hours, and working their way through a list of those of those who have already called chronologically with the oldest first.

Those age 75 and older who have not yet had their name added to the list to receive the vaccine should call EMA at (401) 767-2200 ext. 510, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
