Thanksgiving

There will be no trash or recycling pickup on Thursday, Nov. 26 as the town celebrates Thanksgiving, and pickup will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.

However your family celebrates the holiday this year, together or apart, NRI NOW would like to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. Now, as always, we’re thankful for your readership and support.

Pandemonium Cooklet

The creative folks at Mapleville Farm have shared a resource that aims to help bring a little joy amid stay-at-home orders and some new ideas for the kitchen as people spend an unprecedented amount of time at home.

A “Pandemonium Cooklet,” assembled by Mary Lou Dauray and Gail Horvath includes dozens of healthy and delicious recipes. It has been made available free online by the farm and bakery owners here.

Christmas drive

The Burrillville Police Department has officially launched its annual Christmas drive and will be adopting 16 local families this year – up from nine in 2019 – providing a complete holiday from winter gear, Christmas stockings and gift cards for a holiday meal.

“The need is greater than ever, as you can all imagine, but the process of identifying those in need took a little longer,” the department noted this week. “All of our officers and civilian staff form teams and help to purchase gifts for the children and their families, but we can’t do what we do without the amazing help we receive each year from members of the community.”

Those interested in helping out are asked to contact Lisa Rabideau at 401-568-9494 x1, or lrabideau@burrillville.org.
