Grades 6 & 9 return

Students in grades 6 and 9 will return to in-person learning at North Smithfield schools this week marking another step forward in the district’s reopening pans. So far, four students and three adults in the school system have test positive for COVID-19.

“Adding Grades 6 and 9 means we are now exceeding the Department of Education and State priorities as we continue to find means to bring students back under current restrictions,” Supt. Michael St. Jean noted in a message to families and staff.

Calendar fundraiser

The North Smithfield Heritage Association’s 2021 calendar is currently available for sale.  The calendar features images of local historic buildings and town landmarks accompanied by a short description of each location.  The NSHA members hope the calendar will promote community awareness of town landmarks as well as support for their restoration and preservation activities, according to President Richard Keene.

Local artists, Michael St. Jean, Larry Smith, Christine Keene and Aleksandra Norton created the images.  Judy Tenzar Beauchemin of New England Image and Print designed and printed the final collectible quality calendars.

Calendars are available for $15 at Wright’s Dairy Farm, Village Paint, Li’l General Convenience Store, Leeway Ace Hardware and Saturdays at the Forestdale schoolhouse. The NSHA will mail calendars  for an extra $5 postage and handling charge.

For more information, visit the NSHA Facebook Page and website, contact them by email at nsha@nsheritageassn.org or call Keene at 401-447-6394.
