Town to hold Eco-Depot & E-waste event Saturday

    The town of Burrillville will host an Eco-Depot Hazardous Waste Collection and E-waste event on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Whipple Avenue recycling and compost facility. Guests are asked to stay in their vehicles for the drive-through drop off.

    An appointment is required for the drop off of hazardous wastes, such as chemicals and stains, by calling Rhode Island Resource Recovery Center at (401) 942-1430 ext. 241.

    For E-waste, no appointment is needed and items accepted free of charge include computers, laptops, servers, routers, and peripherals such as mice, keyboards, plastic speakers, and microphones; TVs, monitors and flat screens; hard drives, optical drives, motherboards, daughter boards, ram, CD ROMs, and power packs; printers, fax machines, typewriters, scanners, toner cartridges, cameras, calculators, and small medical equipment; cell phones including batteries, cordless phones, telephones, PDA’s, Ipods, tablets, and chargers; batteries including auto/marine, laptop, cell phone, lithium and battery backups; all types of cables and wires including holiday lighting without bulbs; audio/visual equipment, stereos, CD/DVD players, console gaming systems, cassette players and remote controls; small household appliances like toasters, microwaves, toaster ovens, blenders, mixers, vacuum cleaners and power tools.

    A $10 disposal fee applies to large wooden stereo speakers, laser jet printers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, dorm size refrigerators, water coolers, and other coolant containing appliances. Additional charges may apply to large copy machines and printers.
