BURRILLVILLE – The bacon, the rye bread and the Monte Cristos are all sold out, and on Saturday, the doors closed for good.

Excellent Breakfast closed this week after three years doing business on Harrisville Main Street. Opened by owner Stella Chalkiadakis in 2017, the restaurant has specialized in breakfast made from scratch, including specialty coffees and baked treats such as streusel and breads.

The restaurant showed flexibility and a diverse cooking repertoire in 2020, making up income lost due to closures with take out service, and offering dinner on weekends.

In July, the business obtained a liquor license from the Town Council, and began serving bloody marys, mimosas and boozy coffee drinks.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, owners announced on social media that the restaurant would close on Sunday, Oct. 18, inviting patrons to pick up a commemorative t-shirt.

“Thanks for your absolutely shocking levels of support,” the business noted. “I’m not sure that they were deserved but they were certainly appreciated.”

But product moved faster than anticipated, and this week, Excellent Breakfast noted that its last official day of business would be Friday, Oct. 16.

A pre-scheduled event, hailed as the business’s “last hurrah,” went go on Saturday, Oct. 17. Guests are invited to visit the restaurant on Saturday for “Cars and Coffee.”  The event included the unveiling of a new project, a car storage and club dubbed, “The Collector’s Shed.”
