Trash delay

North Smithfield Town Hall will be closed on Monday, Oct. 12 in observance of Columbus Day. There will be no trash or recycling pickup for the day, and all routes will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Mail ballot deadline

The deadline to submit a mail ballot for the upcoming General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. Those who wish to vote by mail can print an application here and submit the completed form in a new dedicated drop box installed on the side of the building at Town Hall on Greene Street.

If you have already ordered a mail ballot application and would like to track it, visit vote.ri.gov.

Heritage calendar 

The North Smithfield Heritage Association’s 2021 Calendars are now available for purchase.  A limited supply is available at the Forestdale School on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Goodwin Bros. Farm Stand on Greenville Road also now has some for sale.

Last chance

This week is the last chance to view a series of pre-screenings of the docu-series Slatersville online before the videos come down. The videos, which can be found here, will be removed on Thursday, Oct. 15, as the complete series will be released in Rhode Island PBS next fall. Read the latest on the project here.

Residents who hope to take part in the Pumpkin People of North Smithfield decorating contest have until Saturday, Oct. 17 to submit a photo of their creation on the group’s Facebook page. Read more about the contest here.

Town meetings

The North Smithfield Zoning Board will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 13 starting at 7 p.m. for an agenda that includes the proposed expansion to the mosque at 40 Sayles Hill Road. The agenda and instructions to attend can be found here.

The North Smithfield School Committee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 14 starting at 6:30 p.m. The agenda and instructions to attend via Zoom can be found here.
