Roots & Shoots set to close

BURRILLVILLE – A family-owned business on Broncos Highway will close this fall after some 18 years of selling lawn and garden supplies to local customers.

Roots & Shoots will shut down at the end of October, and is now having a sale on remaining inventory. The business at 2677 Broncos Highway sells landscape and garden products, from pond supplies and pool equipment, to mulch, annuals and perennials.

Incorporated in 2002, the nursery and garden center is owned by Maureen and Anthony Esposito. The family operated from their home on Tarkiln Road for their first five years in business, and has become the go-to stop for both horticulture needs and garden gifts over the past decade, growing some 75 percent of their own plant material. The owners also offered classes on topics such as planting, crafting and outdoor living.

The business announced the news over the weekend on social media, noting that the owners are retiring.

“We’re having a great sale on wall art, statuary, flags, doormats, fairy garden and so much more,” they noted. “If you have unused gift certificates now is the time to stop in.”
