On Wednesday, May 20, Burrillville police transported an injured Red Shouldered Hawk to Sweet Binks Rescue, Inc. in Foster. The bird had been hit by a car and is now recovering.

Fair cancelled

The 29th annual Burrillville Family Fair, originally scheduled for Saturday, June 20, has been cancelled. The Burrillville Parks and Recreation Department announced the news this week, noting that organizers look forward to seeing guests next year.

Pickup delayed

There was no trash or recycling pickup in Burrillville on Monday, May 25 due to the Memorial Day holiday. Collection resumed today and will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Door vote

Residents answered the Burrillville School Department’s call for decorated front doors showing their Bronco spirit last week, and now, you can help to choose which door looked best.

Voting will be opened Tuesday, May 26 at noon and you can vote for your favorite here.

Retired flags

Do you have an old worn American flag that needs to be respectfully retired? Boy Scout Troop 102 Mapleville is collecting flags for a flag retirement ceremony. Anyone with a flag that needs to be retired is asked to message Thomas Sylvester. 

Town meetings

The Burrillville Redevelopment Agency will hold a meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, May 26 starting at 7 p.m. The agenda and instructions to join can be found here. 

The Burrillville Town Council will hold a virtual meeting on Thursday, May 28 starting at 6 p.m. that will serve as a public hearing for the town’s capital improvement budget. The agenda and a link to join can be found here. At 7 p.m., the board will hold a hearing on the School Department’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
