Today is Monday, Jan. 13. Here are five things you need to know in Burrillville this week:

Lions to host auctioneer & valuation session

Got stuff? If it’s old, unique, or a puzzlement to you, then bring it to the next Burrillville Lions’ meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at Uncle Ronnie’s Red Tavern in Nasonville.

Experts and principals from Bruneau & Company Auctioneers will be on hand to provide information and valuation estimates. Burrillville and North Smithfield residents are invited to bring up to three items to be assessed and valued. Donations of $5 per item, or three items for $10 will benefit Lions’ activities and charities.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information call 474-8251.

Bakers wanted

Bakers are needed for an upcoming fundraiser to benefit local non-profit For Pete’s Sake & Rosie’s Too, an organization that provides fun activities for individuals who are disabled or suffering from short term or long term illnesses.

Volunteers are currently accepting donated baked goods for the event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 8 at Brigido’s IGA in Pascoag.

The group is also currently accepting pre-orders for handmade chocolate-covered cherries. Cherries cost $8 a box and pre-orders must be made by Saturday, Feb. 1.

To donate a homemade item, or order a box of cherries, call Julia at (401) 497-7984.

Send a card

Camille Connell, a resident of Overlook Nursing Home, will turn 100 years old on Wednesday, Jan. 22. According to Connell’s daughter, Sue Connell-Quetta, her mother loves receiving cards, and the family  is asking friends, relatives and even those who do not know the birthday girl to help her celebrate the landmark occasion.

Cards can be mailed to Camille Connell, Overlook Nursing and Rehab, 14 Rock Road, Pascoag, RI 02859.
