BURRILLVILLE – Residents were asked to be on the lookout for a cow that escaped a farm on Thursday, and she was missing for more than six hours before she was finally located.

“Thistle,” a Scottish Highland, lives at Old Fieldstone Farm on Cherry Farm Road and broke free sometime on Thursday, Nov. 21 while her owners were away.

“We got home and she is out of her paddock,” the owners noted on Facebook around 3 p.m. “With buses out and kids driving home we are worried sick.”

Thistle was last seen around 2:30 p.m. and when she still had not been located as of 8 p.m. Thursday night, her owners went out with a hunter to track her last steps.

She was finally safe and headed home just before 9 p.m.

Thistle returns home.
