Today is Monday, Aug. 26 and here are five things you need to know.
Snack packing session
The Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack program will host a packing session to prepare for the upcoming school year on Tuesday, Aug. 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Beckwith-Bruckshaw Lodge at 50 Lodge Road. Stop by and help out this program, which keeps Burrillville students fed on weekends throughout the school year.
The former Burrillville teacher whose appearance on Caught in Providence went viral last month may be going on a surprise trip with the Gloria Gemma foundation to Sedona Arizona.
Amy Weigand was diagnosed with breast cancer and was undergoing treatment at the time the show was filmed. In October, she’ll be a Torchbearer for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation’s Illuminations of Life Ceremony.
Friends of the young mother and teacher are hoping to help also send her on the 7-day healing retreat and have started a GoFundMe page that can be found here.
