Virginia Sindelar presents Music at the Farm

BHS Graduation

Burrillville High School will hold its 118th commencement on Friday, June 7 at the June Rockwell Community Rink beginning at 5:30 p.m. You must have a ticket to attend this ceremony for graduating seniors.

The Burrillville Police Department reminds residents that parking in the high school lot is only available by passes administered by school staff.  There is no parking on Whipple and  East Avenue and shuttles will run from AT Levy School and Burrillville Middle School bringing attendees to the high school starting at 4:15 p.m.

Intro to Freshwater Fly-Fishing 

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is hosting a fly-fishing clinic for families with children 10 years and older to learn about fly-fishing equipment, fly-tying, fly-casting, and the best fishing areas across Rhode Island during a six-hour workshop at Addieville East Farm on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fee is $15 per person and lunch and equipment will be provided. Registration is required. To register, contact Kimberly Sullivan at Kimberly.sullivan@dem.ri.gov.

Fishing Derby

Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club will hold their annual fishing derby this weekend. On Saturday, the free event is open to guests with disabilities, and on Sunday, all children ages 16 and under are welcome. Participation, food and drinks are free, and there will be raffles and prizes given out all day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pint-sized Prom

Jesse Smith Memorial Library will host a Pint-Sized Prom on Saturday, where kids are invited to dance to their favorite songs, have some snacks, take a picture at the photo booth and take part in activities. Dressing up is encouraged but not required. Drop in anytime between 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. The event is best for kids 6 and under and no registration required.

Through the Doors

Through The Doors, a multi-media tribute to Jim Morrison and The Doors, will perform at the Assembly Theatre on Saturday starting at 8 p.m. The classic rock band has been touring since 1980. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased by cash at the door or through Smarttix.

Battle of the Bands

A Battle of the Bands featuring Rhode Noize, Riff Raff and Liquid Lunch will take place at Hills Tavern in Chepachet on Sunday, June 9 from 1 to 5 p.m. to benefit Operation Ironclad. Tickets for the all ages event cost $25 and include family style chicken dinner, raffles, door prizes and a cash bar. For tickets contact Kathy Foisey at (401) 486-6587.

Music at the Farm: A musical tour of 18th century Europe

Grace Note Farm’s “Music at the Farm,” presents a Musical Tour of 18th Century Europe on Sunday as part of their indoor concert series featuring flutist Virginia Sindelar and Harpsichordist Suzanne Cartreine. The program, which begins at 2 p.m., includes works by Handel, C.P.E.Bach, Quantz, Benda, Rameau, Locatelli, and Telemann.

After the concert, audience members are welcome to take part in a guided walk along the farm trails, view the homestead dwelling, meet the animals and purchase homemade desserts. Tickets are $20 per adult, or $10 students 12 or under, and are available at the door or online through Eventbrite.com. Children 4 and under are free.
