Toys for Tots Drop Off

American Legion Post 88 will host a Toys for Tots drop off on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 111 Chapel St. The group will be collecting IGA receipts, worn flags, canned goods, and new toys for the Christmas program as well as holding a coat/clothing drive. Donate new clothes and toiletries for the Knights of Columbus RI Veterans Home collection. There will also be a new flag sale and refreshments, as well as a raffle for a Hess Truck. Join the group after the event at 3 p.m. for the kickoff of the Army/Navy football game with snacks and hot weiners to be served at half time.

Breakfast with Santa

The Oakland Mapleville Fire Department will hold Breakfast with Santa with all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, bacon. coffee, milk and OJ at 46 Oakland School St on Sunday, Dec. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $8 for adults or $5 for children, and children under the age of five are free. Santa will be present from 9 to 10 a.m. only, and children can visit and take pictures. Pictures will be developed and available for pickup at the station the following week for free.

Winter Gala

Enjoy a night out with dinner, dancing and more to benefit Cory’s Crusaders – an organization that benefits children fighting brain cancer – on Saturday, Jan. 26 from 6 to 11:30 p.m. The night will start off with a beer and wine tasting provided by Chepachet Village Wine & Spirits from 6-7 p.m., folllowed by a chicken & roast beef dinner. There will be a photo booth, raffles and a $100 gift card door prize provided by Bella Restaurant and Banquet!

Tickets cost $50 for the Winter Gala, and must be purchased in advance. Anyone who purchases their tickets before Saturday, Dec. 15 will receive a free sheet of 25 raffle tickets, which also includes a chance at the door prize. Full tables of 10 can be reserved while they last and no later than January 1. Contact teresa@coryscrusaders.org for more information.

Indoor flag football

The Burrillville Patriots are starting up an indoor flag teams for the winter. The coed teams will be made up of youth ages 8-14 years-old for 5 on 5 games throughout the winter. Games will be played on Saturday afternoon and evenings, starting January 5 at Wide World of Indoor Sports in North Smithfield.
