Enbridge maintenance

Starting on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 8 a.m., Enbridge will be performing maintenance at their Algonquin Lane Facility. The work will continue for several days.

According to a notice from the company, the work will include “blow-downs,” which may result in some noise and odor. Enbridge advises residents that it is no cause for alarm and there will be no danger to people or property in the area.

Questions can be directed to the Burrillville Compressor Station at 401-568-6300.

Snack Pack program needs urgent help

Organizers of the Burrillville Weekend Snack Pack Program say that due to the increased number of children receiving weekly backpacks, funding is quickly diminishing.

The program is looking for assistance in the form of donations or businesses willing to set up a food donation box or fundraising event.  Learn more about the program here.

To donate, or learn more contact the Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department at 568-9470.

Hearings resume

The Energy Facility Siting Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. regarding Invenergy Thermal LLC’s application to construct the Clear River Energy Center.

The board will address town of Burrillville’s Motion to Reject the Public Utilities Commission’s Advisory Opinion; CLF’s Motion for the Full Admission of Invenergy’s QDN for FCA-13; and CLF Motion for the EFSB to Take Administrative Notice of Invenergy’s PUC Brief.

The hearing will take place in Hearing Room A of the Public Utilities Commission office building, 89 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, RI 02888.

The hearing may continue thereafter from day to day and from time to time as required. At the hearing, the board may rule on the motions heard. Oral public comment will not be heard at this hearing. The hearing will be streamed live at the following web address: www.ustream.tv/channel/WqQyXw296dg.

In an application that has been in review since 2015, the company hopes to build a combined-cycle electric generating facility on Wallum Lake Road. The plant is intended to fire natural gas as a primary fuel and ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel as a backup fuel.

Docket materials are on file and available for public review at the offices of the Board at the Public Utilities Commission office building and at www.ripuc.org/efsb.
