Early voting

Cast your vote in the race for town administrator this week without waiting in line. Early voting is now being offered five days a week at Town Hall at 83 Greene St.

Voters are asked to go to the building and call the town clerk’s office at (401) 767-2200 anytime during normal business hours. According to Town Administrator Gary Ezovski. lines so far have been minimal to nonexistent. Early voting will continue through primary election day on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Those who have obtained mail ballots can send them in or deposit them into a ballot box in the lobby of town hall.

Businesses recognized

Congratulations to two North Smithfield businesses on being recognized by Providence News as “best places to work.” National Marker has been named to the list for the fourth time in 2020 and Banneker Industries was named for the eighth consecutive year.

The rankings for each honoree will be kept confidential with full results to be revealed at a Sept. 30 virtual event scheduled and published in the publication’s Oct. 2 issue.

Remote learning camps

Wide World of Indoor Sports may offer remote learning camps and is looking to gauge parental interest before launching the program. Staff would help the kids in grades two and up complete their distant learning and allow the students to engage in safe play during breaks at the camps 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily for a charge of $50 per day.

“We know flexibility is what every family needs at this time,” the business noted in a letter. “Our buildings are impressive in size airflow and cleanliness. As a parent when you pick them up you would have the comfort of knowing they had completed their daily school work and socialized with other kids in their own stable pod.”

Parents who are interested are asked to respond by Thursday, Sept. 4 by calling (401) 767-1234 or emailing info@wideworldofindoorsports.com.

If there is enough interest, the program will begin with the start of school on Monday, Sept. 14.
