Free clinics & fall soccer

The Burrillville Glocester Youth Soccer Association has announced that the  2020 season is on and registrations are open. Early bird registration for the fall is open, and those who sign up now can save $20 through June 25. Registration information can be found here.

Summer concerts cancelled

Friends of the Jesse M Smith Memorial Library have announced that they will not be holding a summer concert series this year.

“It was a heart breaking decision,” said organizer Peggy Dudley. “We had a fantastic line up for this summer.”

Dudley said the group is already working on the 2021 schedule.

Book takeout

Both Pascoag and Jesse Smith Memorial Libraries are now offering book takeout services.

The hours at Jesse Smith expand starting today, Monday, June 15. Reference assistance, curbside requests/pickups and holds requests will be available by phone Mondays from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Patrons are instructed to call 710-7800 or email jmsreference@burrillville.org for assistance.

In Pascoag, orders must be placed by phone at (401) 568-6226 or by emailing info@pascoaglibrary.org. Patrons must have their card number available to order, and can do so Mondays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Woods in the woods

Burrillville-based singer/songwriter Jonas Woods will hold a live “house show on Saturday, June 20, following the rules of social distancing with an outside concert. The event will take place at 300 Olney Keach Road starting at 7 p.m. and guests are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets, snacks and bug spray.

Town meetings

There are no town meeting scheduled in Burrillville this week.

And a bonus “thing”

Today is the last day of school for Burrillville students. To both parents and students in town, congratulations on surviving three long months of distance learning. Have a happy summer!

Schools across Rhode Island are scheduled to reopen on August 31.
