Trash delay

There will be no trash or recycling pick up in the town of Burrillville today, Monday Aug. 12, as the state celebrates Victory Day. Pickup will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week.

Forever Fit classes resume

Forever Fit classes for residents 55 and older resumed on Monday, Aug. 12. The beginner/intermediate class combines seated stretching, flexibility and range of motion exercises, strength training, standing dance fitness and balance exercises. No prior experience is necessary.

Classes are free and held Mondays and Thursdays from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the community recreation center. The class is sponsored by Burrillville Parks and Recreation and taught by Susan Sgambato. For more information call (401) 835-7460.

Beach rock painting party

Join the Burrillville Rocks group for a free beach rock painting party at Windjammer Surf Bar on Wednesday, Aug. 14 starting at noon. All ages are welcomed and rocks will have a flamingo theme.

All rocks and supplies will be provided.

Exhibit reception

An opening reception for the LivableRI Posters for Climate Change exhibit will be held at Jesse Smith Memorial Library on Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m.

The exhibit of 25 posters can be seen at the library at 100 Tinkham Lane in Harrisville from August 2 to August 30.

Town meetings 

The Pascoag Fire Commission will hold their regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Howard Avenue station.

The Burrillville Recreation Commission will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Jesse Smith Memorial Library conference room.

The Burrillville Zoning Board will hold a hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. in the town building.

The Town Council meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 14 has been cancelled.
