A Plastic Ocean

The documentary feature film A Plastic Ocean will be show at the Assembly Theatre on Friday, July 19 starting at 7 p.m. The film was created to promote awareness, and has won 14 plus film festival awards. The showing of the 100-minute long movie will be free, but cash donations are welcomed.

Jesse Liam Band

Visit the pavilion in front of Jesse Smith Memorial Library on Saturday, July 20 at 6 p.m. to see the Jesse Liam Band perform a free concert. The band plays original music and hits from the 50s to today. Bring a lawn chair and your dancing shoes to enjoy this free community event, put on as part of the Riverwalk Times Concert series.

Win a family pass

Pascoag Public Library is holding a fundraising raffle for a Family Season Pass to Spring Lake. The pass is good for a maximum of seven family members.

Raffle tickets cost $2 each and are available to Burrillville residents only. Pick up your ticket at the Church Street library. A drawing will be held on September 26.

Assembly of Food Trucks – delayed

PVD Food Trucks return to the Assembly Theatre on Sunday, but the event, which was originally scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., has been delayed until 5 p.m. due to the excessive heat expected this weekend.

Starting at 5, residents are invited to eat from some of the best food trucks Rhode Island has to offer, enjoy live music and visit the beer tent. Events normally end at 7 p.m., but will remain open this Sunday until 8:30 p.m.

Admission is free, but donations to the The Assembly Theatre will be accepted.

Stay cool

NRI NOW reminds you that whatever you do on this hot weekend, take it easy and try to stay cool. Check on elderly neighbors and remember to make sure pets have plenty of fresh, cold water. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for our area, and information about the town’s cooling stations can be found here.
