Traffic stops lead to eight arrests so far in April

BURRILLVILLE – Traffic stops by members of the Burrillville Police Department have led to the arrest of eight drivers so far in the month of April, including four people who were pulled over on Broncos Highway.

The stops took place between Monday, April 1 and Saturday, April 20, just as members of the Town Council were discussing the need for safety improvements along the highway and questioning if there was adequate enforcement of current traffic laws.

Five of the individuals arrested during the eight separate incidents were charged with driving under the influence.

According to information in the Burrillville Police arrest logs, on April 4, at 6:39 p.m. police arrested Shawn G. Smith, 39, of 161 North Main St., Pascoag, after a traffic stop on Pascoag Main Street. Smith was charged with driving without a license and released on a summons to appear in 6th District Court at a later date.

On April 5 at 10:36 p.m. members of the Burrillville Police Department arrested David M. Young, 45, of 2 Oak Dr., Taunton, Mass. following a traffic stop on Broncos Highway. Young was charged with DUI, 1st offense, BAC unknown.

On April 13, at 12:14 a.m., another stop on Broncos Highway led to the arrest of Kevin M. Morrissey, 29, of 1 High St. in Pascoag. Morrissey was charged with DUI, 1st offense, BAC of .10-.15.

At 7:54 p.m. on April 13, officers arrested Jamesina M. Basile, 36, of 21 Centre Road, Chepachet. Basile was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued by the RI 6th District Court and later transported to the Adult Correctional Institute.

Also that day at 8:10 p.m., members of the Burrillville Police Department arrested Joseph J. Tessier, age 43, of 700 Eagle Peak Road in Pascoag, after a traffic stop on South Main Street. Tessier was charged with DUI, 1st offense, BAC unknown.

On April 18 at 10:23 p.m., John C. Tridento, 44, of 89 Beausoleil St., Woonsocket, was arrested as the result of a traffic stop on South Main Street. Tridento was charged with DUI, 1st offense, BAC of .10-.15.

The following day, April 19, at 10:55 p.m. members of the Burrillville Police Department arrested Jamie A. Brindamour, 43, of 146  Cherry Hill Ave., Woonsocket, after a traffic stop on Broncos Highway.  Brindamour was charged with DUI, 1st offense, BAC of .15 or greater.

The final stop noted on records already released by the department this month took place on April 20 at 7:49 p.m. on Broncos Highway. Alexander M. Martinez, 19, of 279 Rand St., Central Falls was charged with Driving Without/Expired License, 3rd offense.
