Spring recess
It’s school vacation week and if you’re looking for ways to keep the kids busy, both Jesse Smith Memorial Library and Pascoag Public Library have activities throughout the week. Check out family movies at the library in Pascoag tonight or Friday. Activities in the Jesse Smith Children’s Department include Project Chick on Wednesday, with a visit from Casey Farms. Help a veteran
Details have been released on the community meeting to help build a new home for Korean War veteran Paul Tellier. The meeting to discuss the resources and volunteers needed to build the 83-year-old a new home will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m. in the Burrillville High School auditorium.

Teacher recognized
Mandy LeComte, social worker at Burrillville High School and Steere Farm Elementary School has received the 2019 Ally Empowerment Award from the TGI Network of RI for her advocacy of and commitment to the well-being of transgender students.
Town meetings
The Screening Subcommittee will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 16 at 4 p.m. at the town building at 105 Harrisville Main St. for an agenda that can be found here.
The Ordinance Subcommittee will meet on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m. at the town building for an agenda that can be found here.
Taxes
The Rhode Island Division of Taxation reminds taxpayers and tax preparers that the deadline for personal income tax returns has arrived. All resident and nonresident Rhode Island personal income tax returns and related payments for tax year 2018 must be e-filed or postmarked on or before 11:59 p.m. That is also the filing deadline for certain business entities and others.
Although all returns and payments are due by midnight, you may apply for an automatic six-month extension, which will give you six more months to file your return; the extended due date this year is October 15. The extension form can be found here.
