BURRILLVILLE – A trumpet player in the Burrillville High School band will be one of just two students representing Rhode Island on the All-National Honor Ensembles concert band roster in Florida next month.

Marie Plouffe will travel to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando along with other talented music students from across the country and overseas in military-based schools.

Plouffe practiced and auditioned to gain a spot in the National Association for Music education All National Honor. The BHS senior says she’s been playing the instrument for eight years and plans to major in trumpet performance in college.

“I am so excited to be selected for the National Band this year, as it is an incredible opportunity to play with other young musicians from around the country,” Plouffe said. “While I am there I will be surrounded by others who share my passion for music and I will be able to challenge myself with new music and a new ensemble.”

The NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles represent the top performing high school musicians in the United State and will bring the students together for performances Nov. 25 through 28.
