Car shows, a festival and a grand opening: Five things to know in Burrillville this weekend

Car show and block dance party

Lions Club Car Show and Block Dance will be held at Burrillville Middle School 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Support the Burrillville Lions at this Car Show fundraiser. All proceeds to benefit local charities, and donations of canned goods or non-parishable food are appreciated. There ill be music by The Bel-Aires and a 50/50 drawing.

Cost is $10 per show car and free for spectators.

Pumpkinfest

Head next door to North Smithfield for their annual 12th annual Pumpkinfest on Saturday, Sept. 15 at North Smithfield High School from 11 a.m to 5 p.m. This family-friendly event includes food and activities. Browse through exhibits and booths from small businesses across New England and enjoy local entertainment.

Admission buttons cost $2 at the door.

Car show rain date is here

Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club will host its third annual custom bike, car and truck show on Sunday, Sept. 16 from 8 a.m. to 6 pm. – rescheduled from August due to inclement weather.

Registration is from 8- 10 a.m. and the show starts at 10:30 a.m.

There will be food, music, raffles, a beer tent and a burnout pit. This is a kid/family-friendly event with face painting, bounce houses, a rock wall and a dunk tank.

Vendor space is available and all proceeds go to local charities.

General Admission is $5.

Woods withdraws

Robert Woods officially withdrew his name from the Burrillville Town Council ballot Friday after coming in fourth out of five candidates in Wednesday’s primary election. The Republican Town Committee must now submit a replacement name to appear on the ballot or the November General Election ballot will only include three Republicans – along with the four Democrats and three independents also in the race for the four open seats.

Hill Tavern grand opening

The former Sticks Tavern at 417 Putnam Pike in Chepachet reopens this weekend under new ownership based in Burrillville.

Hills Tavern grand opening will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15  with doors at noon for a fun filled day including a pig roast, yard games, as well as music from the bands Vanishing Breed, and The Live Music Band.
