PORTSMOUTH – A Burrillville man was arrested on Monday by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force for allegedly soliciting a minor who lives in Portsmouth.
Michael Collins, 56, was taken into custody at his home in Harrisville for a felony charge of indecent solicitation after police say he initiated inappropriate contact with the 14-year-old.
Police say they obtained online communications between Collins and the victim during an investigation by the Portsmouth Police Detective Division.
Collins was arraigned in 2nd Division District Court and released on $5,000 surety bail. He is prohibited from having contact with minors or using the internet, smartphones, and computers.
