
Presidents Day
Town Hall is closed today, Monday, Feb. 17, in observance of Presidents Day, but it is not a trash holiday and pickup will take place on a regular schedule this week.
The holiday also marks the beginning of winter break, and if you’re looking for something to do with the kids, North Smithfield Library has several special events and activities. See the schedule and register here.

Conservation Corps
The North Smithfield Heritage Association will host noted historian and author Marty Podskoch on Friday, Feb. 21 for a presentation on the Civilian Conservation Corps Program and its Primrose Camp during the Great Depression. The NSHA will also display artifacts from the camp. The presentation will take place at Heritage Hall at 101 Green St. starting at 7 p.m.
Coffee with a Cop
The North Smithfield Police Department will hold Coffee with a Cop on Monday, Feb. 24, a chance for residents to meet with the chief and officers and hear about recruitment opportunities. Members of the NSPD will be at Revive Coffee Co. at 11 Main St. from 9 to 11 a.m.
Official selection
Director Christian de Rezendes has announced that “Slatersville: America’s First Mill Village – Episode 6: They Will All Be My Friends” is an Official Selection at this year’s Block Island Film Festival. The event will take place May 28-30 at the Block Island Maritime Institute and Champlin’s Marina & Resort in New Harbor. More details can be found here.
