
More Candlelight Shopping
Candlelight Shopping continues in Chepachet Village this week with a chance for visitors to enjoy a bit of “Yankee hospitality,” while they shop, as local businesses decorated for the season and streets are lit with antique lights. Stroll the village from 5 to 9 p.m. to the sounds of holiday music with guests to include carolers, witch dancers, musicians and more.
The events, which take place on the first three Thursdays in December, will continue next week. Visit NRI NOW later this week to see contributor Dick Martin’s coverage of the first event.
Membership drive
Laurel Grange at 347 Snake Hill Road will hold a revitalization membership drive on Thursday, Dec. 12 starting at 7 p.m. The event is part of an initiative to help save the historic grange, with new members invited to join the effort. In the coming months, members plan to host community events in hopes to raise funds for repairs.

Coffee hours
Town officials will host drop-in style coffee hours today, Friday, Dec. 13 with information about the Chepachet Village Septic Improvement Program. Attendees will have the chance to hear more about the program in an informal setting, ask questions or file a statement of interest form. Coffee hours will be held in Room 6 at Glocester Town Hall at 1145 Putnam Pike from 8 to 10 a.m.

Christmas Parade
The Glocester first responders, including the police and fire departments, will hold their annual Christmas Parade on Friday, Dec. 13 starting at 6 p.m. at the West Glocester Fire station and heading east along Route 44 to West Greenville and Snake Hill Road before ending at the high school. Driver should expect delays along the route.
This year, the parade is open to outside participants and will include festivities along Main Street in Chepachet, with food vendors and candlelight shopping as stores stay open late for the event. Those who would like to participate are asked to contact Marta at [email protected].
Vaccine clinic
Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road will host a vaccine clinic on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. The clinic will offer flu shots, FluMist and COVID-19 vaccines. Those with insurance are reminded to bring their card and those without insurance will also have no out-of-pocket costs. To register visit schoolflu.com. Limited walk-ins will also be accepted.
Christmas bazaar
Saint Eugene Church at 1251 Putnam Pike Chepachet will hold its annual Christmas bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parish hall. The event will feature crafts and jewelry, baked goods, penny social, white elephant, raffle baskets, straw games, a 50/50 raffle, food and more.
Supplies needed
Glocester Animal Control is in need of supplies for animals in their care and is seeking donations of wet and dry kitten food, paper towels, liquid dish soap, bleach, scrubbing sponges and tall kitchen garbage bags. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter at 121 Chestnut Hill Road anytime and if the facility is not open, items can be put inside the doghouse outside the gate.
Monetary donations can be made via check or money order made out to Glocester Animal Control and mailed to Glocester Town Hall c/o Glocester Animal Control, 1145 Putnam Pike, Glocester, RI 02814.
