GLOCESTER – A Democratic candidate running for the District 40 House seat representing Coventry, Foster and Glocester pointed to her past achievements this week in an appeal to voters.

Linda Nichols noted that there are now three different lighting fairs at the Glocester Senior Center for all towns. She pointed to her work in organizing a Volunteer Appreciation Night, where citations from the state and town were given to members of boards and commissions.

Nichols also worked on a community garden for the town of Glocester, where all food grown is donated to Glocester food bank.

She noted that she also spoke in front of former Gov. Lincoln Chafee regarding the green energy at Glocester Senior Center, and took part in Energy Leadership Day in Providence, speaking on behalf of the town of Glocester’s solar project.

Nichols also spoke in Washington, DC. at the Senate Building regarding the green energy funding and regulations and spoke to the Town Council about the Community Resource and the Wastewater Advisory projects.

She served on the flag campaign that can be observed at the Ancients and Horribles Parade in Chepachet, and worked with Rise Engineering to replace town facilities with updating lighting. Nichols said she also recruited numerous grants and was successful in receiving a grant for the town’s Hydro-Power feasibility study.

Nichols asked voters to choose her to represent the region in the election on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
