Decorative bottles are on sale in the latest fundraiser against the proposed power plant.
Bottles are $20 each and can be purchased at Eastcoast Artisans in Pascoag.
Bridge open
The Railroad Avenue bridge, which has been closed since June, is now open following rehabilitation by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation. Read about bridge improvements here.
Burrillville Holiday Cards
Help local families during the holiday season with the purchase of unique holiday cards to send to friends and family. Arriving in stores this week, the five pack of cards were created from the artwork of Steere Farm & Callahan Elementary School contest winning students and depict five different winter scenes in Burrillville.
Contest winners were Kennedy Gaucher, Sydney Gaucher, Kenslie Gardiner, Rose Forte and Sophia Zampello.
The cards, printed on recycled paper, are available at the Burrillville Parks & Recreation Department, 92 North Main St., Pascoag, the Burrillville Town Clerk’s Office and Li’l General, Harrisville Main Street, at a cost of $4 per pack. All proceeds will benefit local families during the holiday season.
Speak to students
Burrillville High School officials are looking for alumni that would be willing to share their career experience with current students. If you are currently working at a job you love that you would be able to talk about, contact teacher Kevin Stockwell at [email protected]. The high school is looking at possibly holding a career day on April 9.
Hearing rescheduled
Oakland Village Water
The Oakland Village Water System Improvement Project is currently in the contractor bid phase. Contractors will be submitting bid documents in early December. The bids will then be evaluated by the engineer and a recommendation for contract award will be made, according to town officials.
The Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank is expected to authorize the funding for construction at its December 17 Board Meeting based on the results of the contractor bids. Once the contractor receives a notice to proceed, the town will receive a preliminary construction schedule.
The schedule will be shared with the public once it becomes available and the town is expected to hold a meeting with impacted residents in late January/early February to discuss it. Notice will be provided to residents prior to the meeting.
