Miss Burrillville Teen Olivia Picard raised more than $1,200 for The Ability Bridge and Tri-M Chapter 7716 at the Dreams Without Limits cabaret at Ponaganset High School last week.

Rabies clinic

The Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association will operate a rabies vaccine clinic at the Chepachet Fire Station at 1170 Putnam Pike from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 19. The cost for the vaccine is $20 and only cash will be accepted. Pet owners do not need to be Glocester residents, but must present proof of prior vaccination to be eligible for the three year shot.

Fight for Air Climb

Volunteers with the Chepachet Fire Department are once again climbing stairs to raise funds for the American Lung Association as part of the Fight for Air Climb at the Omni Hotel in Providence.

“Every day we treat and transport patients suffering from respiratory illness and difficulty breathing,” notes the department in a post on the effort. “Help us support people who are fighting for every breath!”

The public can show their support and donate in honor of one of the climbers here.

Calendar fundraiser

The Ponaganset boys lacrosse team is holding a calendar fundraiser, with a chance to win a gift certificate to a local business every day in May, including Loreen’s It’s All Hair, Listen To Your Art, Who Cut The Cheesecake, Chepachet Village Wine & Spirits and many more. Calendars cost $10 and can be purchased by contacting Tasha Coyne Elderkin.

Frog hunt

The Glocester Land Trust invites visitors to search for decorative frogs on the Steere Farm Trail in a scavenger hunt held in collaboration with Listen to Your Art. Search for 30 frogs along the trail and take a photo with one tagging the trust on Facebook or Instagram by May 31 to be entered in a drawing for a giant frog plushy. The wooden frogs, hidden along the main trail, were all painted by local young artists.

Budget public hearing

The Glocester Town Council will hold a public hearing on the 2025-2026 tow budget on Monday, April 21 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Ponaganset High School at 137 Anan Wade Road.
