GLOCESTER – A Providence man is facing charges for intent to deliver narcotics following an investigation Glocester police say revealed he was regularly visiting town to sell fentanyl.
Luis Flores, 53, was arrested earlier this year following a four month investigation that included help from the Rhode Island State Police Narcotics Unit that resulted in warrants to search his vehicle.
According to the arrest report, police conducted a traffic stop on Douglas Hook Road after Flores drove his the black Honda Accord to town on Friday, Jan. 10. A 38-year-old Chepachet man was also in the car, and once both parties were removed from the vehicle, police reportedly located three clear plastic bags of a brown powdered substance on the floor in the front passenger seats in plain view.
Field tests later confirmed the Flores was in possession of two grams of fentanyl.
Flores was initially held without bail, but was released in February on a $20,000 surety bond with conditions that he surrender his passport and firearms. He is due back in court for a pre-arraignment conference on August 28.
