BURRILLVILLE – A driver involved in a serious motor vehicle crash on Wallum Lake Road Tuesday afternoon is in stable condition according to a release from the Burrillville Police Department.
Jake Suprenant, 30, of Burrillville, was reportedly traveling north at a high rate of speed around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8 when he lost control of his vehicle – a 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck – and left the roadway onto the east shoulder. The truck reportedly struck a telephone pole, splitting it in half, then rolled over on the side of the roadway, striking a storage box on the front lawn at 400 Wallum Lake Road, before rolling into a tree at the residence. The vehicle finally came to a halt wrapped around the tree.

According to Police Chief Col. Stephen Lynch, Burrillville Police officers and EMS personnel from the Pascoag and Harrisville Fire Departments responded to the scene, and Pascoag EMS members utilized multiple Jaws of Life apparatus to remove Suprenant, who was trapped in the driver’s compartment of the vehicle.
Suprenant was transported from the scene by Pascoag rescue to the parking lot of Zambarano Hospital, where he was then Life-Flighted to Rhode Island Hospital.
“Suprenant remains in stable condition at RI Hospital,” said Lynch.
The crash caused a brief power outage in the area, with crews from the Clear River Water & Electric District working quickly to restore service.
The crash remains under investigation, and Lynch said excessive speed is seen as a factor.
