BURRILLVILLE – It’s Major League Baseball season everyone – time for baseball action across the USA. Worcester WooSox and Boston Red Sox fans are hoping for a great season and a trip to the World Series this year.
It’s very important to remind kids that it is safer to play baseball in backyards and not in streets. Meeting the WooSox management team a while back, they were very interested in keeping kids safer by encouraging them to play the game of baseball in their own backyards when they weren’t playing baseball on baseball fields during the spring and summer months. I was asked to create a series of WooSox backyard baseball safety coloring cartoons for kids and find ways to reach children about a variety of baseball-themed content. One of those ways includes publishing them here, and in other newspapers and magazines. I also pass them out to kids at community events across the state and region. Some of these baseball-themed coloring cartoons included kids and baseball players reminding children to drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, stretch and limber up to prevent muscle strains, and wear protective headgear and pads to avoid unintentional injuries while participating in sports activities such as baseball.
I want to especially remind kids to play baseball in their own backyards. It’s safety first in backyards. Batter up kids! Play ball!
Go WooSox and go Red Sox! Have a great season!
